Frequently Asked Questions
What does the Gold Coast Academy do?
The GCFA offer what we term 'supplementary' training to individual players whether they play for a current team or not. In this way we can focus on those techniques and understandings that players need to strengthen their play and abilities.
Where are you located?
The Academy work out of our partners at Coomera Anglican College. The college is located at 8 Days Road, Upper Coomera, 4209 on the northern side of the Gold Coast. You can see a map of the location on our contact page.
Why are you located there?
Coomera Anglican College boast the most up to date and modern facilities that represent an opportunity for improvement in all areas of the footballing quadrant. Their vision is second to none and our partnership grows from strength to strength. Their facilities include first class indoor and outdoor playing surfaces, a High Performance Centre that also includes a specialist Cardio Room, swimming pools for recovery and other uses and facilities for us to initiate our Yoga Fusion and other programs too. Add to that the highly innovative Imaginarium where 3D programs can be created and used, then its easy to see why this is the perfect location for developing footballers, both male and female. And the Academy currently work in conjunction with the CAC Football Academy too.
Do I have to wear an Academy strip or uniform?
If you are a GCFA member then yes an Academy strip is a must. We find it strengthens involvement and a sense of belonging that players are happy with. CAC students however do not have to wear an Academy strip, though most wish to do so. They can wear their CACFA training strips during CAC terms.
How much does the training cost?
Cost is based on the amount of sessions per week a player can attend or as decided by the Academy staff. Recently the Academy has experienced a surge in growth and as such, all sessions whether general in nature or specific will have to be tightly regulated. GCFA members pay this cost upfront. CAC students do not have to pay during term times but do have to pay a fee outside term dates.
does the academy play teams in local leagues?
No. The Academy's purpose is supplementary training for the development of players abilities. Our reputation is such however that we are often invited into prestigious international football tournaments and where possible we strive to identify and formulate squads for such participation. Our methodology has produced results with players trialling and signing for professional clubs in the past. Our most recent trip to Spain in January 2019 has also produced an amazing result too.
